About
I'm Ben Tengelsen. I have a PhD in Economics from Carnegie Mellon, where I studied macro-labor economics, search and matching models, and computational game theory. Since then I've spent about nine years working across data science, data engineering, and machine learning — and about seven of those leading teams.
I currently work at Aampe, where we build agentic infrastructure for personalized marketing. It's a fascinating problem space that sits right at the intersection of engineering, modeling, and product thinking. Prior to Aampe, I led the data science team at IntelyCare, a healthcare staffing startup.
Absaroka Data is my company for consulting and contract work. I take on projects that intersect with my personal interest and core data skills — data organization, Snowflake, experiment design, causal inference, and online learning algorithms. I've stood up full projects such as Taco States of America and occasionally write about data topics on Towards Data Scienceor other public nerd outlets.
