About

I'm Ben Tengelsen. I have a PhD in Economics from Carnegie Mellon, where I studied macro-labor economics, search and matching models, and computational game theory. Since then I've spent about nine years working across data science, data engineering, and machine learning — and about seven of those leading teams.

I currently work at Aampe, where we build agentic infrastructure for personalized marketing. It's a fascinating problem space that sits right at the intersection of engineering, modeling, and product thinking. Prior to Aampe, I led the data science team at IntelyCare, a healthcare staffing startup.

Absaroka Data is my company for occasional consulting and contract work. I take on projects that intersect with my personal interests and core data skills — data organization and infrastructure, experiment design and measurement, causal inference, and online learning algorithms.
